The Macmillan Cancer Support Team have sent us the following certificate in recognition of the Coffee Morning that we held on Friday 29 September 2023.
It was a pleasure to have supported the cause.
Many thanks to all members and people from the local community who came for coffee and contributed to the Macmillan charity.

The inaugural launch of our new LED floodlights was Saturday 16 October 2023.
We are extremely grateful to the Tom Carey fund for providing a grant - and we were delighted that Sue Carey (daughter in law of Tom Carey) was able to perform the opening ceremony. A memorable evening in the history of our Club.

The Macmillan Coffee morning held at the Club on 29 September 2023 was a great success - and many thanks to all those who were involved in pre-event publicity and organising / running the event on the day.
Especial thanks to all the members and visitors who came along for free tea, coffee and cakes - and for their generous donations to Macmillan Cancer Research.

The Club was delighted to host an evening social 'Bowls Bash' for members of the local Littleover Tennis Club on Eastwood Drive - less than 5 minutes walk away.

The Club is delighted to announced that Foundation Derbyshire (Tom Carey Fund) has agreed to provide funding for new LED floodlights (to replace the old metal halide ones). These LED lights will improve lighting of the bowling green to 'Class 2' level, which is the standard required for high level competition bowling at county regional levels.

Congratulation to Ed Furniss (Captain of our Monday League Division 1 Team) for winning the Derbyshire Senior Merit Cup at King’s Newton on 25 June.
He beat Steve Barber 21-13 in the final - and both players now qualify for the All Britain finals at Heaton Park on Saturday 29th July.

Notwithstanding some very wet weather, the Rykneld Open ran according to plan over the five evenings - and provided an excellent spectacle.
Congratulations go to the overall winners - Darren Plenderleith and Ben Harris.
Congratulations also to Greg Smith who took the highest break prize - sponsored by Curran Birds and Company of Derby.
Many thanks are due to Craig Pearson and Ed Furniss for all the hard work involved in organising and running the competition.
Also many thanks to the markers, the kitchen and bar staff for all the refreshments, and to everyone who came to support the club and watch throughout the week.
A great five evenings.

Rykneld Open is fully subscribed with 64 of the very best crown green bowlers competing over 5 evenings for £1,000 prize money.
Not to be missed.
Spectator facilities, food and alcoholic / soft drinks available every night.
Thanks to Craig and to all others who have helped organise this event - and who will be helping out on the five consecutive nights.

The Bowling Green was formally opened for the 2023 season on Sunday 31 March 2023 by the Club President - Paul Eason.
The honour of bowling the traditional 'first ball of the season' was carried out by Em Mansfield, one of our most experienced lady members.

The RYKNELD OPEN is all set to run over five consecutive nights - 10-14 April.
We are delighted that some of the top crown green bowlers from around the country have entered this event.
It promises to be five evenings of outstanding and highly competitive bowling - not to be missed.

RYKNELD OPEN - 2 PERSON TEAM COMPETITION - week of 10th April 2023.
Entry £30 per pair, with a prize fund of £980.
This is a TWO-person team competition (don’t need to be from same club.) No ‘homesters’ allowed.
To be run over one week with 4 qualifying nights for the finals night.
Qualification nights are 10, 11, 12 and 13 April 2023.
Finals night - Friday 14th April 2023.
All start times are at 7.00 pm, no roll up.
8 teams per night playing down to 2 pairs, with 8 pairs on finals nights.
Any teams from same club will be kept apart from first round games in qualifying nights wherever possible.
Prize money paid out to those qualifying for finals night as follows:-
First game losers - £60 per pair, Semi-final losers - £120 per pair, Losing finalist - £200, Winner - £300.
Games to be decided on aggregate score basis. Any tied game to be decided by a 3-end play off for nominated player from each team.
If still tied one further end to decide winner.
Food will be available each night, with teas and coffees and the bar will be open.
Entries either by messenger or text (07758 700385) taken on a first come first served basis.
Payment details to be given when entry is confirmed with payment required within 7 days - else the club reserves the right to remove an offending pair.

The 'Players Meeting' to register and organise teams for the 2023 season will be on Wednesday 8 March at 7:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse.
The Bowling Green re-opens for the new season on Sunday 26 March 2023 at 10:30a.m. - and there will be a 'Bowls Bash'.
All family members and friends are invited.

2023 promises to be an exciting time for Rykneld as it continues to build on the past year's successes - both on and off the green.
The Social Events calendar for 2023 is now being compiled.
The immensely popular Horse Race evening is back again this year - and takes place on Saturday 11 February 2023.
