Rykneld Bowling Club provides facilities and promotes participation of the whole community in the sport of crown green bowls and other indoor leisure pursuits.
It offers social bowling and, if desired, participation in one or more daytime or evening league competitions.
During the season the club organises a number of competitions which are internal for Club Members, but in addition there are several which are external and thrown open to players from other clubs.
Particularly during the winter months, the Club provides limited indoor leisure activities to the Community - such as whist drives, beetle drives, dominoes, St George's Day celebration, Burns Dinner and presentations on various subjects of interest to members and their guests.
Further objectives for the Club are:-
- to at least retain current membership levels
- to provide training in bowls to people with learning difficulties from the local Rykneld Activity Centre
- to provide training in bowls to at least one local primary and one secondary school class
- to enable residents of local nursing / residential homes to enjoy our facilities.
