Well done to the Wednesday Doubles team who have reached next week's league cup final for the second year in a row!
After 5 close matches, Rykneld managed to edge ahead to win all 5 games against fellow promotion chasing Etwall on a damp evening.
Thank you to Littleover Bowls Club for hosting.
Next week's final will be held on Wednesday 9th September at Chellaston Bowls Club, 7pm start against either Breadsall or Allestree.
After losing last years final by 1 point, the team are hoping to get across the line this year - and all support would be welcome
On Thursday 20th August, we held our annual Prime Timers competition alongside our first Evergreen event - a special gathering where we welcomed ex-members and the partners of ex members who are no longer with us to join us for tea.
A day filled with friendship, memories, and the spirit of our club.

We were proud to have been chosen as the venue to host the 2026 Dickie Final which was held yesterday.
Over 100 people attended the event and many positive comments were received about the club and our excellent facilities.

After many years - a roadside sign for the club has been erected directly facing Louvain Avenue.
Hopefully this will be visible to the many people who walk past the club without knowing of its existence - and also to the many drivers who come up Louvain Road.

Before we re-open for the season:
Clubhouse cleaned - (thanks to Susan and all other ladies who did this).
Flags pressure washed - and green edges trimmed - (thanks to Angela).
Intensive green work continues - (thanks to David).
Two replacement notice boards erected - for messages and scoring of matches.

Decision taken to defer the green re-opening by a week - to Saturday 28 March - to ensure that changes made over the closed season have more impact before playing starts.

An excellent quiz last night (24 Jan) from Sean, ably assisted by Kate.
Questions were challenging to say the least - and it was a fun evening.
Tickets for the Horse Race evening on Saturday 28 February will be available at the AGM.

An update from our greenkeeper David Fowkes - is that following his two sessions (with a heavy / firm brush) fertilizer granules are now all but gone.
This means that our regular 'swishing' patterns can resume.
All is looking good for the re-opening of the green on Sunday 22 March 2026.

Work to update all the electric consumer units in the bar is scheduled to commence on Monday 9 March.
The end result will be a consolidation / simplification of all the piecemeal changes that have taken place over the years.
The job is expected to take two days and when complete the heating systems for the clubhouse will be more flexible.
